Hubby and I voted and as also our daughter and son in law. We have to trade Madeline back and forth to do it. It we usually would take Madeline with us to vote but in these COVID times, NO.
When Barack Obama was elected we were flying back from a university trip to Hong Kong. It was thrilling to see the excitement as we waited in the airport lounge. Non Americans were so excited and the headlines were in all languages! Canada was also thrilled with their new neighbor!
In 2010, we moved back to San Antonio after lifetime in Canada. I signed up for Battleground Texas and met various activists working so hard to get Mexican Americans to vote. This was back in 2012, maybe? Then Madeline was born with Cystic Fibrosis and we were forced by fate to keep a little baby a live ounce by ounce by syringe. She refused a bottle and the Pertzye killed her appetite. Nevertheless, the years peeled away and our struggle became routine. Obama approved precision drugs that have been of tremendous help in keeping her healthy!
I quit writing for ShelterBox and going to the Netroots. I left Daily Kos for a long time.
Recent diaries I have written in frustration that Texas, our leaders and Mexican Americans in general were being ignored.
Well, we shall see what happens, but I think the constant push to register voters by Texans by local Mexican American activists is paying off. I hope.
I need to get her up had her overnight and it’s time toget her up at 6:00 for her 8:15 class. She has vest therapy and then has to eat a big fat breakfast. So I will check back with you guy later.
